Once assembled, it is recommended to circulate 1M KOH for 24 hours at room temperature (e.g. over 100 mL of the solution for every 100 cm²). Replace KOH solution every 12 hour period. Activation process can be accelerated by heating at 60°C, at which 3 hour period can roughly equal 12 hours at room temperature. Once activated, test can start using fresh KOH solution. \u003cspan style=\"font-size: 0.875rem;\"\u003ePlease note that activated membrane needs to be kept under CO2-free environment in order to keep it in OH- (or hydroxide) form.
