Nickel Fiber Felt, 0.25mm

Nickel Fiber Felt is a fiber felt (in the form of small diameter fibers compressed and sintered) made of pure nickel metal and has a continuous three-dimensional mesh structure. Nickel fiber felt is important in Anion Exchange Membrane (AEM) electrolyzers, primarily as a Porous Transport Layer (PTL) for green hydrogen production, functioning as a highly conductive, corrosion-resistant current collector with a large surface area for efficient water electrolysis. 

Key Applications in AEM Electrolyzers:

• Porous Transport Layer (PTL): Acts as the vital interface between the catalyst and flow field, transporting electrons, distributing reactants, and removing gases.
• Current Collector: Provides an excellent conductive pathway for electrons from the external power source to the cathode.
• Catalyst Support: Its high surface area offers numerous reaction sites for the hydrogen evolution reaction (HER) and Oxygen evolution reaction (OER).

·       Thickness: 250 micrometer (400micrometer also available)

·       Porosity:  ~60%

      Surface Roughness: ~15 micrometer

      Pore Size: 20 - 60 micrometer

·       Ni purity: >99%

As an example, Ni fiber felt has been used as both cathode and anode to test the durability of Hydroion membrane at high potential of over 2.2V under  a current density of 1A/cm2 since the nickel felt itself undergoes negligible degradation.
